"... and this black seed - Ibn Buraydah said: meaning the black cumin that is in the salt - is a remedy for every disease, except death." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/346): Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us from Wāṣil ibn Ḥabbān with it and added at the beginning: "Truffles are a remedy for the eyes, and the ʿajwah is from the fruits of Paradise, and this black seed..." And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. And Zuhayr is Ibn Muʿāwiyah ibn Ḥudayj. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah, raised: "You should use this black seed, for it contains a cure for every disease except death." Sufyān said: death is al-sām and it is the black cumin." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/241): Sufyān narrated to us from al-Zuhrī from Abū Salamah - if Allāh wills - from him. And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and it was recorded by Muslim (7/25) and al-Tirmidhī (2/3) and authenticated from the path of Sufyān - who is Ibn ʿUyaynah - and others from al-Zuhrī with it similarly. And it was recorded by him and al-Bukhārī from another path from al-Zuhrī from Abū Salamah and Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib together from Abū Hurayrah with it similarly. Then it was recorded by Aḥmad (2/268) from the path of Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī who informed me Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say about the black cumin: "You should use this black seed..." the ḥadīth.
