and Aḥmad, the teacher of al-Ṭabarānī, I did not find a biography for him, and it is likely found in "Tārīkh Ibn ʿAsākir," so let those who have access to it refer to it. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah, reported in a similar manner without the addition, and its wording has been mentioned earlier under number (1326). It was recorded by Muslim (8/155), Aḥmad (2/308 and 323), and al-Ḥākim (4/435-436) who authenticated it according to the criteria of the two shaykhs, and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. They both erred in their claim of it being overlooked by Muslim, as he did record it as you have seen. Similarly, al-Haythamī erred in mentioning it in "al-Majmaʿ" following the ḥadīth of the chapter and said: "It was narrated by al-Bazzār and its narrators are those of the authentic collections."
- "Peace is a name from the names of Allāh which He has placed on earth, so spread it among you. For when a Muslim man passes by a group and greets them with peace, and they respond to him, he has a degree of merit over them. If they do not respond, someone better and purer than them will respond to him." It was recorded by al-Bazzār (no. 1999): al-Faḍl ibn Sahl narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar al-Madāʾinī narrated to us, Waraqāʾ narrated from al-Aʿmash from Zayd ibn Wahb from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). And Aḥmad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Ḥakīm narrated to us, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sharīk narrated from his father from al-Aʿmash from Zayd ibn Wahb from ʿAbd Allāh from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: and he mentioned it, and said: "It was narrated by more than one as a mawqūf narration, but Waraqāʾ, Sharīk, and Ayyūb ibn Jābir narrated it as marfūʿ." I say: its second isnād is weak due to the poor memory of Sharīk, who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Qāḍī, and his son. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said about the father: "He is truthful but makes many mistakes, his memory changed since he took the position of judge."
