It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (3924). Its isnād is weak; Ghānim ibn al-Aḥwaṣ is unknown as Abū Ḥātim said, and the chain to him is obscure. The first part of it has a corroboration from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd in a marfūʿ form. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (5199).

"there will be in this ummah in the end of times men with whips like the tails of cows; they will go out in the morning under the wrath of Allāh and return in the evening in His anger." It was narrated by Aḥmad (5/250), al-Ḥākim (4/436), Ibn al-Aʿrābī in his Muʿjam (213-214), and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (no. 8000) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buḥayr from Sayyār from Abū Umāmah in a marfūʿ form. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. Ibn Buḥayr is Ibn Ḥimrān al-Tamīmī al-Baṣrī. Al-Haythamī said about the ḥadīth (5/234): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and 'al-Kabīr'." In a narration from him: "So beware of being among their close associates." The men of Aḥmad are trustworthy." And this is with al-Ṭabarānī (7616): Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Ḥamzah al-Dimashqī narrated to us, Ḥayywah ibn Sharīḥ al-Ḥimṣī narrated to us, Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us from Sharḥabīl ibn Muslim from Abū Umāmah with it. And this Sharḥabīl is truthful but has some weakness as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb"
