its chain of transmission is also authentic, albeit mursal. The ḥadīth was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/119 - Istanbul), Muslim (1/92 and 7/98), Ibn Mājah (2/490-491), Aḥmad (2/326), and Ibn Jarīr through the route of Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān and Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib from Abū Hurayrah with a similar narration, and they added at the beginning: "We are more deserving of doubt than Ibrāhīm when he said: * (My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead. He said: Have you not believed? He said: Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be satisfied) *." Muslim narrated from the route of al-Aʿraj from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "May Allāh forgive Lūṭ, he sought refuge in a strong support." Aḥmad recorded it (2/350) from another route from Abū Hurayrah with it, except that he said: "May Allāh have mercy on..." Ibn Jarīr recorded it (12/139) from the route of Ibn Isḥāq from a man from Abū al-Zinād with the wording: "May Allāh have mercy on Yūsuf, he was indeed patient. If I were imprisoned and then summoned, I would have hastened to leave. He was indeed forbearing and patient." This chain of transmission is evidently weak. The ḥadīth has also been narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās with a similar wording, and it will appear under number (1945).

- "In Ramaḍān, the gates of the heavens are opened (in another narration: Paradise), the gates of the Fire are closed, and every rebellious devil is chained. A caller (in another narration: an angel) calls out every night: O seeker of good, come forward, and O seeker of evil, desist."
