narrated to me by Mūsá ibn ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ from his father from Abū Udhaynah al-Ṣudafī that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād has trustworthy men, with a weakness in ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ, but he has been corroborated as will be mentioned. And there is a difference of opinion regarding the companionship of Abū Udhaynah al-Ṣudafī. Al-Baghawī said: "I do not know if he was a Companion or not." Ibn al-Sakan said: "He was a Companion." I said: The one who affirms is given precedence over the one who denies, and the one who knows is a proof against the one who does not know. ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ narrated from a group of Companions and heard from them, such as ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān, Faḍālah ibn ʿUbayd, and others. Then Ibn al-Sakan narrated through the route of Muḥammad ibn Bakkār ibn Bilāl from Mūsá ibn ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ with it, as in "al-Iṣābah." I said: This is a strong corroboration for ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ from Muḥammad ibn Bakkār, for he is truthful, so the ḥadīth is authentic, especially since al-Bayhaqī said afterward: "And it was narrated with a sound isnād from Sulaymān ibn Yasār from the Prophet ﷺ in a mursal form up to his saying: if they fear Allāh." And the first part of it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Anas and others, extracted in "Ādāb al-Zafāf" (pp. 16 and 19). And his saying: "The unveiled women are the hypocrites."
