"play, O sons of Arfadah...". Its narrators are trustworthy, except that this Taymi has not been mentioned as having narrated from the Companions, except Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf, who is counted among the Companions, and he saw [the Prophet], but did not hear from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), so I do not think the Taymi heard from him. However, the ḥadīth, with all these chains, is authentic without a doubt.

"The castration of my nation is fasting." Narrated by Aḥmad (2/173), Ibn ʿAdī (111/2), and al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (3/1/2) from Ibn Lahīʿah, who said: Ḥiyyi ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to me from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥubulī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ. That a man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh, do you permit me to castrate myself? So he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) mentioned it, and added: "and standing [in prayer]." I say: And this isnād is weak due to the poor memory of Ibn Lahīʿah, and ḥadīths have been narrated with the meaning of this ḥadīth without mentioning standing [in prayer]
