Hārūn said: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us from Thābit al-Bunānī from Anas ibn Mālik: that Ḥārithah ibn Surāqah went out to observe, and an arrow came to him and killed him. His mother said: "O Messenger of Allāh! You know the position of Ḥārithah with me. If he is in Paradise, I will be patient, otherwise, you will see what I do!" He mentioned it, and at the end, he said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn doubted. I said: Its chain of narration is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Yūsuf ibn ʿAṭiyyah followed him, and Thābit narrated it to us with it and more complete. It was extracted by Ibn Naṣr in "al-Ṣalāh" (77/2). But Yūsuf is abandoned. ʿAffān followed him, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated it with him and said: "And he is in the highest Firdaws" without doubt. It was extracted by Aḥmad (3/272). He was followed by Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīrah with him at the same place (3/215 and 282-283). Ibn Ḥibbān authenticated it (2272) and al-Ḥākim (3/208), and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. He was followed by Qatādah from Anas with it. It was extracted by al-Bukhārī (2/204) and Ibn Khuzaymah in "al-Tawḥīd" (239) and al-Tirmidhī (2/201) who authenticated it, and added at the end: "And Firdaws is the hill of Paradise, its middle and best part." It is with Aḥmad in a narration (3/260) but he separated it from the ḥadīth and said: Qatādah mentioned it cut off from his statement. He did not mention it at all in the other narration (3/210 and 283). Ḥumayd followed him and said: I heard Anas with it without the addition.
