and it supports what was previously mentioned that there is another chain from Ibn ʿAbbās narrated by Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḍarīr, who said: Shabābah ibn Sawwār informed us, saying: al-Mughīrah ibn Muslim informed us from Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Kathīr, the client of Samurah, from him in a marfūʿ manner, except that he said: "and the one anointed with saffron." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (5536 in my numbering) and he said: "No one narrated it from Kathīr, the client of Samurah, except Hishām, and no one from Hishām except al-Mughīrah ibn Muslim, and Shabābah was unique in narrating it." I say: He is truthful, from the men of the two Shaykhs, and his teacher al-Mughīrah is considered good in ḥadīth as al-Dhahabī said in "al-Kāshif." And Hishām ibn Ḥassān is trustworthy, from the men of the two Shaykhs. His teacher Kathīr is Ibn Kathīr, the client of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Samurah. Ibn Ḥibbān said in "al-Thiqāt": "Qatādah and the Basrans narrated from him." Al-ʿAjlī also deemed him trustworthy, so his ḥadīth is good. Zakariyyā al-Ḍarīr was mentioned by al-Khaṭīb (8/457-458) with a group narrating from him, and he did not mention any criticism about him.
