with his hands to his right, to his left, and in front of him, and few are they." I said: One of its chains of transmission is authentic, and al-Mundhirī said (4/108): "Its narrators are trustworthy." There is supporting evidence for this wording from the narration of ʿAṭiyyah al-ʿAwfī from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī. It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/31) and Ibn Mājah (4129). Another version from the ḥadīth of Abū Dharr with the wording: "Indeed, those who accumulate wealth are the fewest, except those who say..." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (2/83) and Aḥmad (5/152) who said: "the losers."
- "The leader is responsible; if he does well, it is for him and for them, and if he does wrong - meaning - it is against him and for them." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (981) from ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Sulaymān, the brother of Fulaḥ, who narrated from Abū Ḥāzim, who said: "Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Sāʿidī used to appoint the young men of his people to lead them in prayer. It was said to him: 'You do this while you have precedence?' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say:' and he mentioned it." I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Sulaymān, who is weak. However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as the statement: "The leader is responsible" has been reported from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah and ʿĀʾishah, and both are recorded in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (530-531) and from the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah with Aḥmad (5/260) with a good chain. The remainder is reported from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah as a marfūʿ narration with the wording:
