I said: This is a good chain of transmission, its narrators are trustworthy, although there is some discussion about ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār, especially regarding his narration from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr. The ḥāfiẓ [scholar] said: "He is truthful but makes mistakes, and his narration from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr is inconsistent." If you understand this, you will recognize the leniency of al-Būṣīrī in "al-Zawāʾid" (278/2) when he said: "This is a sound chain of transmission, its narrators are trustworthy." Perhaps he was mistaken because ʿIkrimah mentioned is among the narrators of Muslim, and it is known that not all his narrators are of the same rank; among them are those whose ḥadīth is good, as is not hidden from one who practices this noble science. The ḥadīth has supporting evidence from the narration of Ibn Masʿūd, raised [to the Prophet] without his saying: "and his earnings are from lawful sources." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (807) and its narrators are trustworthy. Another is from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās, raised similarly. It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (7/264). A third is from the narration of Abū Hurayrah, raised similarly, with the addition: "in front of him, to his right, to his left, and behind him." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/428) and its chain is good, and by Ibn Mājah (4131) without the addition, and it is a narration for Aḥmad (2/340). Then I found for it another path with him (2/309, 525, and 535) from Kumayl ibn Ziyād from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "O Abū Hurayrah, those who accumulate wealth are ruined, except those who say like this, and like this, and like this, three times."
