I said: He is trustworthy, and it was narrated by Ḥabīb ibn Ḥabīb, the brother of Ḥamzah al-Zayyāt, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAmr ibn Dhī Mar and Zayd ibn Arqam, who both said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) delivered a sermon on the day of Ghadīr Khumm and mentioned it, adding: "... support those who support him and assist those who assist him." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (5059). And this Ḥabīb is weak, as stated by al-Haythamī (9/108). ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad recorded in "Zawāʾid ʿalá al-Musnad" (1/118) from Saʿīd ibn Wahb and Zayd ibn Yathīʿ, who both said: ʿAlī called upon the people in the courtyard: Whoever heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say on the day of Ghadīr Khumm, let him stand. Six stood from Saʿīd's side, and six from Zayd's side, and they testified... the ḥadīth. It has been mentioned in the fourth ḥadīth - the second and third paths. Its isnād is good, and it was recorded by al-Bazzār in a similar manner and more completely. There are many other paths for the ḥadīth, a large group of which were compiled by al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (9/103-108). I have mentioned and extracted what was possible for me from them, which, after verifying the isnāds, decisively proves the authenticity of the ḥadīth. Otherwise, they are very numerous, and Ibn ʿUqdah compiled them in a separate book. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar said: Among them are authentic and good ones. In summary, the ḥadīth of the translation is authentic in both its parts, and the first part is even mutawātir from him (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) as it becomes evident to those who trace its isnāds and paths, and what I have mentioned is sufficient. As for his statement in the fifth path of ʿAlī's ḥadīth (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu): "Support those who support him and forsake those who forsake him."
