the men of al-Bukhārī as well: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Hawdhah narrated to us—and I saw him in his cradle of old age—saying: Jarmūz narrated to me, and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "And based on this, it is likely that ʿUbayd Allāh heard it from him through an intermediary, then heard it directly from him." Al-Ṭabarānī also recorded it (2180) through the route of Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿArʿarah, who narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith, who narrated to us from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Hawdhah from Jarmūz with it. So the intermediary between them was omitted, and it is likely more accurate to affirm it, for al-Ṭabarānī recorded it (2182) through another route from al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥabīb ibn Nadbah from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Hawdhah al-Qurayʿī from a shaykh from Jarmūz similarly. The reliance is on the certainty of al-Baghawī and Ibn al-Sakan that the shaykh is Abū Tamīmah al-Hujaymī. And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth has some supporting evidence in "Ẓilāl al-Jannah" (1014), so whoever wishes may refer to it.

- "I advise you to have taqwá of Allāh and to say the takbīr upon every elevation." It was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/35/2), and from him by Ibn Mājah (2771), al-Tirmidhī (2/255), and Aḥmad (2/325, 331, 443, 476), as well as by Ibn Khuzaymah in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (1/256/2), al-Muḥāmilī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (Q 32/1), Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-l-Laylah" (514), al-Ḥākim (1/445-446, 2/98), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Zuhd" (Q 107/2) through various routes from Usāmah ibn Zayd from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Abū Hurayrah who said: "A man came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) intending to travel and said: O Messenger of Allāh, advise me. He said: " and he mentioned it, and the wording of al-Tirmidhī is: "Adhere to taqwá of Allāh...." He, al-Ḥākim, Aḥmad, and others added: "When he departed, he said: O Allāh, level the earth for him and make travel easy for him." Al-Tirmidhī said:
