similarly, it was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (p. 232/1) and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (1/88) through another chain from Ṣāliḥ ibn Mūsá. It was also narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" as in "al-Majmaʿ" (9/148) and he said: "In it is Ṣāliḥ ibn Mūsá, who is abandoned." I said: He was not alone in narrating it, for it was also narrated by Isḥāq ibn Yaḥyá ibn Ṭalḥah from his uncle Mūsá ibn Ṭalḥah who said: "While ʿĀʾishah bint Ṭalḥah was saying to her mother Umm Kulthūm bint Abī Bakr: 'My father is better than your father,' ʿĀʾishah, the Mother of the Believers, said: 'Shall I judge between you? Abū Bakr entered upon the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he said: O Abū Bakr, you are Allāh's freed one from the Fire, and from that day he was called al-ʿAtīq. Ṭalḥah entered upon the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he said: You, O Ṭalḥah, are among those who have fulfilled their vow.'" It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/415/416) and he said: "Its chain is authentic." Al-Dhahabī critiqued it by saying: "I say: Rather, Isḥāq is abandoned, as Aḥmad said." I said: Despite his severe weakness, he was inconsistent in his chain, narrating it once in this manner, and another time saying: from Mūsá ibn Ṭalḥah who said: "I entered upon Muʿāwiyah, and he said: Shall I give you glad tidings? I said: Yes, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: 'Ṭalḥah is among those who have fulfilled their vow.'" It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd (3/1/155-156) and al-Tirmidhī (2/219, 302) and he said: "A strange ḥadīth, we do not know it except through this route, and it was only narrated from Mūsá ibn Ṭalḥah from his father."
