it is reported from the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd and Abū Hurayrah. as for the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd, it is narrated by al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Musayyib from his father from him, in a marfūʿ form. It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (1/289-290), Ibn Ḥibbān (960), Abū Bakr al-Anbārī in "al-Amālī" (10/2), Ibn Makhlad al-ʿAṭṭār in "al-Muntaqá min Aḥādīthih" (2/85/2), al-Qāḍī al-Sharīf Abū al-Ḥusayn in "al-Mashyakha" (1/178/1), al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (5/262), and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (8/318), all of them through the route of Khalaf ibn Khalīfah from al-ʿAlāʾ. I said: This isnād's narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except that Khalaf had become confused, but he was followed up. al-Khaṭīb said afterward: "Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated it from al-ʿAlāʾ similarly to the narration of Khalaf ibn Khalīfah." I said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq connected it from Sufyān with it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/110/1) and likewise al-Dabarī in "Ḥadīth" from ʿAbd al-Razzāq (173/2 - 174/1), except that he said: "from his father or from a man from Abū Saʿīd." al-Ṭabarānī said: "No one raised it from Sufyān except ʿAbd al-Razzāq." I said: He is a trustworthy authority unless he contradicts. Muḥammad ibn Faḍl differed, saying: from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Musayyib from Yūnus ibn Khabbāb from Abū Saʿīd with it.
