"By the One in whose hand is my soul, the Hour will not be established until the beasts speak to humans, a man speaks to the tip of his whip and the strap of his sandal, and his thigh informs him of what his family did after him." It was narrated by Imām Aḥmad (3/83-84): Yazīd narrated to us, al-Qāsim ibn al-Faḍl al-Ḥudāʾī informed us from Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī who said: "A wolf attacked a sheep and took it, the shepherd pursued it and snatched it from him. The wolf sat on its tail and said: 'Will you not fear Allāh, taking away a provision Allāh has brought to me?' He said: 'What a wonder! A wolf sitting on its tail speaking to me in human speech!' The wolf said: 'Shall I not inform you of something more wondrous than that? Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is in Yathrib, informing people of the news of what has passed!' So the shepherd drove his sheep until he entered Madīnah, gathered them in a corner, then came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ordered that the call be made for the congregational prayer, then came out and said to the shepherd: 'Inform them,' and he informed them. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: 'He has spoken the truth, by the One in whose hand is my soul.'" The ḥadīth. I said: This is a sound chain of narration; its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for this al-Qāsim, and he is unanimously trustworthy, and Muslim included him in the introduction. The ḥadīth was also narrated by Ibn Ḥibbān (2109) and al-Ḥākim separately (4/467, 467-468) and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim"!
