It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/12 and 44) through two chains from him. I have discussed them in "al-Taʿlīq ʿalá al-Targhīb" (2/94). Thus, the ḥadīth, with all of this, is ḥasan. This is what al-Munāwī transmitted from al-Suyūṭī. And Allāh knows best.
"Indeed, Allāh does not love disobedience, and it is as if He disliked the name." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2842), al-Nasāʾī (2/188), al-Ḥākim (4/238), al-Bayhaqī (9/300), and Aḥmad (2/182 and 194) through the chain of Dāwūd ibn Qays from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb from his father from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked about the ʿaqīqah, and he said: (and he mentioned it). They said: O Messenger of Allāh, we are only asking you about one of us who has a child born to him. He said: "Whoever among you loves to offer a sacrifice for his child, let him do so; for a boy, two equivalent sheep, and for a girl, one sheep." This wording is for Aḥmad, and the others have similar wording. Al-Ḥākim's wording is: "I do not love disobedience." It is also a narration of Aḥmad. He said: "The isnād is ṣaḥīḥ," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. However, it is only ḥasan, due to the well-known disagreement regarding ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb. Yes, it has a supporting narration recorded by Mālik (2/500/1) from Zayd ibn Aslam from a man from Banī Ḍumrah from his father, who said: and he mentioned it with the wording of al-Ḥākim. I said: This is an acceptable supporting narration, for the man from Ḍumrah is the teacher of Zayd ibn Aslam, and it appears he is a tābiʿī if not a Companion, as this Zayd is among the trustworthy tābiʿīn, so the ḥadīth is ṣaḥīḥ with it. (Equivalent) means equal in age. And it is said: meaning equal, or close in age. Al-Khaṭṭābī preferred the first, as mentioned in "al-Nihāyah"
