I said: Rūḥ and Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar corroborated it as you have seen, so the ḥadīth is authentic according to their criteria from their route. The ḥadīth was also recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/223-224), Muslim (8/96 and 97), al-Tirmidhī (2/270), al-Dārimī (2/321), Ibn Mājah (4293), and Aḥmad (3/55-56) through other routes from Abū Hurayrah with a similar wording. Al-Khaṭīb also recorded it in "al-Tārīkh" (8/324) through another route from him. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." And it includes an addition with the wording: "If the believer knew what is with Allāh of punishment, no one would hope for Paradise, and if the disbeliever knew what is with Allāh of mercy, no one would despair of Paradise." This addition is also found in Muslim (8/97), and they separated it from the ḥadīth, and the route for both is the same, contrary to al-Bukhārī. Al-Suyūṭī was brief and attributed it to al-Tirmidhī alone, and when al-Munāwī followed up by mentioning that the two Shaykhs recorded it, he claimed that the wording was Muslim's and erred, for the wording is al-Tirmidhī's, and Muslim's wording differs slightly from it. Ibn Ḥibbān also recorded it (2523), and it is similar in al-Bukhārī. It was also recorded by Muslim and al-Ḥākim (4/247-248) and Aḥmad (5/439) from a ḥadīth of Salmān with a similar wording. Aḥmad (3/55) and Ibn Mājah (4294) recorded it from a ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī. Al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/145/1) recorded it from a ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās with a similar wording but in a shortened form, and its isnād is weak. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/214): "It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī and al-Bazzār, and its isnād is ḥasan."
قلت: قد تابعه روح ومحمد بن جعفر كما رأيت، فالحديث صحيح على شرطهما من طريقهما. والحديث أخرجه البخاري (٤ / ٢٢٣ - ٢٢٤) ومسلم (٨ / ٩٦ و ٩٧) والترمذي (٢ / ٢٧٠) والدارمي (٢ / ٣٢١) وابن ماجة (٤٢٩٣) وأحمد (٣ / ٥٥ - ٥٦) من طرق أخرى عن أبي هريرة مرفوعا نحوه. وأخرجه الخطيب في " التاريخ " (٨ / ٣٢٤) من طريق آخر عنه. وقال الترمذي: " حديث حسن صحيح ". وعنده زيادة بلفظ: " لو يعلم المؤمن ما عند الله من العقوبة ما طمع في الجنة أحد، ولو يعلم الكافر ما عند الله من الرحمة ما قنط من الجنة أحد ". وهي عند مسلم أيضا (٨ / ٩٧) وفصلاها عن الحديث والطريق عندهما واحدة، خلافا للبخاري. وقصر السيوطي فعزاها للترمذي وحده، ولما تعقبه المناوي بإخراج الشيخين لها زعم أن اللفظ لمسلم فوهم، فإن لفظه للترمذي، ولفظ مسلم يختلف عنه قليلا، وأخرجها ابن حبان أيضا (٢٥٢٣) ، وهي عند البخاري نحوه. وأخرجه مسلم والحاكم (٤ / ٢٤٧ - ٢٤٨) وأحمد (٥ / ٤٣٩) من حديث سلمان نحوه. وأحمد (٣ / ٥٥) وابن ماجة (٤٢٩٤) من حديث أبي سعيد الخدري. والطبراني في " الكبير " (٣ / ١٤٥ / ١) من حديث ابن عباس مرفوعا مختصرا نحوه وإسناده ضعيف. وقال الهيثمي في " المجمع " (١٠ / ٢١٤) : " رواه الطبراني والبزار وإسناده حسن ".
