al-Ṭabarānī narrated (8910) from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ that a man came to ʿAbdullāh and said: My brother is ill and has a stomach ailment, and wine has been prescribed for him. Should I give it to him? ʿAbdullāh said: Glory be to Allāh! Allāh has not made healing in something impure; healing is only in two things: honey is a cure for people, and the Quran is a cure for what is in the hearts. I said: Its chain of transmission is also authentic.

"Indeed, Allāh has one hundred mercies. He has distributed one mercy among the people of the world, which suffices them until their appointed times, and He has reserved ninety-nine mercies for His close ones. And Allāh will take back that mercy which He distributed among the people of the world to the ninety-nine, completing it as one hundred mercies for His close ones on the Day of Resurrection." Aḥmad narrated it (2/514): Rūḥ and Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar told us, they said: ʿAwf narrated to us from al-Ḥasan, who said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it similarly. Muḥammad said in his narration: And Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn and Khallās both narrated this ḥadīth to me from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. Rūḥ narrated to us, ʿAwf narrated to us from Khallās ibn ʿAmr from Abū Hurayrah similarly. Rūḥ narrated to us, ʿAwf narrated to us from Muḥammad from Abū Hurayrah similarly. I said: These are authentic connected chains from Abū Hurayrah, except the first, which is mursal with an authentic chain. al-Ḥākim also narrated it (4/248) through the route of Bakkār ibn Muḥammad al-Sīrīnī from ʿAwf ibn Abī Jamīlah from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah with it, and the wording is his, and he said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I said: Bakkār is unreliable in ḥadīth. This was stated by Abū Zurʿah."
