is established." These supporting evidences elevate the ḥadīth to the level of being very authentic. The ḥadīth of Ibn Khuzaymah is found in Aḥmad (5/214), and its narrators are trustworthy, except that among them is Ibn Lahīʿah, who is known for poor memory. Regarding the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAmr, al-Haythamī said (341): "Its narrators are those of the authentic collections, except for Aḥmad ibn Nāfiʿ al-Ṭaḥḥān, the teacher of al-Ṭabarānī." This is what he said, and he did not mention anything about his condition, as if he did not find a biography for him. Likewise, I did not know him, and he is Egyptian as mentioned in "Muʿjam al-Ṭabarānī al-Ṣaghīr" (p. 10). Furthermore, the ḥadīth was also narrated by Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, in a similar elevated form. It was recorded by Muslim (1/84) and Aḥmad (2/331) through various chains from Hishām, without the phrase: "for that will remove it from him." It was also recorded by Abū Dāwūd (4121) up to the phrase: "I believe in Allāh," which is a narration for Muslim.
- "A devil comes to one of you and says: Who created such and such? Who created such and such? Who created such and such? until he says: Who created your Lord?! When he reaches this, let him seek refuge with Allāh and desist." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (2/321), Muslim, and Ibn al-Sunnī. There is another chain for the ḥadīth from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "People will soon question each other until one of them says: Allāh created the creation, so who created Allāh? When they say that, say: (Allāh is One, Allāh is the Eternal Refuge, He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent) then let one of you spit lightly to his left three times and seek refuge from the devil."
