ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, Maʿmar narrated to us from Ismāʿīl ibn Umayyah from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was in iʿtikāf in the mosque, and he heard them raising their voices in recitation while he was in his tent. He removed the curtains and said: 'Indeed, each of you is conversing with his Lord, so do not harm one another, and do not raise your voices over each other in recitation.' Or he said: 'in prayer.'" Similarly, it was extracted by Abū Dāwūd (1/209 - Tāziyyah): al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī narrated to us, ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated it to us with the same isnād. And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Shaykhayn. I said: He made it from the Musnad of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, not from the Musnad of Abū Hurayrah and ʿĀʾishah, and this is correct. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration from al-Bayāḍī: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to the people while they were praying, and their voices were raised in recitation. He said: 'The one praying is conversing with his Lord, so let him consider how he converses with Him, and do not raise your voices over each other with the Qurʾān.'" It has been narrated from him through four different routes, as previously explained under number (1597). The ḥadīth of the chapter was attributed by al-Suyūṭī to al-Ḥākim from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "Indeed, when one of you stands to pray, he is conversing with his Lord, so let him consider how he converses with Him." I did not see it in "al-Mustadrak of al-Ḥākim"! It was attributed by al-Munāwī to Aḥmad, al-Nasāʾī, and al-Bayhaqī, but I did not see it with them from Abū Hurayrah. Rather, I saw it with them—except for al-Nasāʾī—from the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd mentioned earlier and from the ḥadīth of al-Bayāḍī mentioned with Aḥmad. They both appeared earlier under number (1597). Then I came across the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah in "al-Mustadrak" through my index that I compiled for it
