"you will surely render the rights to their owners on the Day of Resurrection, even to the extent that a hornless sheep will be avenged against a horned sheep." It was recorded by Muslim (8/18/19), al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (183), al-Tirmidhī (2/68), Aḥmad (2/235 and 323), and Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Ahwāl" (91/2). Al-Tirmidhī said: "It is a ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth, and there are similar narrations from Abū Dharr and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Unays." The other [narration]: from Wāṣil, from Yaḥyá ibn ʿAqīl, from him, elevated [to the Prophet] with the wording: "the creatures will settle scores with each other, even the hornless with the horned, and even the ant with the ant." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/363). I say: Its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Then I found a third route for it narrated by Ibn Lahīʿah, from Darāj Abū al-Samaḥ, from Abū Ḥujayrah, from him, elevated [to the Prophet] with the wording: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, everything will surely dispute on the Day of Resurrection, even two sheep over their butting." It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/390). Its isnād is ḥasan in follow-ups, and al-Mundhirī was lenient, saying in "al-Targhīb" (4/201): "Aḥmad narrated it with a ḥasan isnād." So I say: How can that be, when it includes Darāj Abū al-Samaḥ, who has questionable narrations, and from him, Ibn Lahīʿah, who has poor memory and has been inconsistent in his isnād, narrating it once in this way, and another time saying: Darāj narrated to us from Abū al-Haytham, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī with it
