"then I do not compel you." I said: And this isnād is authentic; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], except for Abū al-Jahm, whose name is Sulaymān ibn al-Jahm al-Ḥārithī, and he is trustworthy. It has a corroborating narration from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet], similar to it. It was recorded by Muslim (6/10) and Aḥmad (2/426). (ghallaltahu) from ghulūl: which is betrayal in the spoils of war or in state funds.

"Look at Quraysh, and take (in another narration: listen to) their words, and leave their actions." It was narrated by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/205), Aḥmad (4/260), and Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (no. 1543) from Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿĀmir ibn Shahr, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. I said: And Mujālid is weak, but he was followed by Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid with Ibn Ḥibbān (1568), Ibn al-Sammāk in "Ḥadīth" (5/96/1), al-Baghawī in "Ḥadīth ʿĪsá al-Shāshī" (111/1), Ibn Bishrān in "al-Amālī" (52/1-2), and Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (1/140), and likewise Aḥmad in one of his narrations (3/428-429), he paired him with Mujālid, so the ḥadīth is authentic, and all praise is due to Allāh. And from the route of Aḥmad, it was extracted by al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (Q 45/1). Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Aswad disagreed and said: from Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, he said: Maʿmar told me, he said: "I came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and heard him say..." and he mentioned it.
