ʿĀʾishah bint Ṭalḥah from ʿĀʾishah, the Mother of the Believers, that Abū Bakr (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) passed by the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he said: and he mentioned it with the wording: "Whoever wants to look at someone freed from the Fire, let him look at this one." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (no. 10) and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr in "al-Istīʿāb" (3/964) as well as al-Ḥākim (3/61) who said: "The isnād is authentic!" and it was refuted by al-Dhahabī who said: "I say: Ṣāliḥ was deemed weak, and the chain is obscure." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said about this Ṣāliḥ: "Abandoned." However, the ḥadīth has a good supporting narration from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr who said: "The name of Abū Bakr was ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUthmān, and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: (he mentioned it) so he was named ʿAtīq." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2171), Ibn al-Aʿrābī in "al-Muʿjam" (41/2), al-Dūlābī in "al-Kuná" (1/7), al-Ṭabarānī (no. 7), Abū al-Khaṭṭāb Naṣr al-Qārī in "Ḥadīth Abī Bakr ibn Ṭalḥah" (p. 165/1), Wahbah Allāh al-Ṭabarī in "al-Fawāʾid al-Ṣiḥāḥ" (1/134/1-2), and Ibn ʿAsākir in "Ḥadīth ʿAbd al-Khāliq al-Harawī wa-ghayrih" (235/1) through various chains from Ḥammād ibn Yaḥyá, narrated to us by Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah from Ziyād ibn Saʿd from ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr from his father. Al-Ṭabarī said: "A rare ḥadīth from the narrations of Sufyān with a connected chain, I do not know of anyone who narrated it from him except Ḥāmid ibn Yaḥyá al-Balkhī." I say: And he is trustworthy as Ibn Abī Ḥātim (1/2/301) said about him from his father, and Abū Zurʿah narrated from him, and he only narrates from reliable narrators, so the chain is good because those above him are all trustworthy from the narrators of the two Shaykhs, so I do not know after this the reason for Abū Ḥātim's statement as mentioned by his son in "al-ʿIlal" (2/386):
