I said: so he mentioned it. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2430) and al-Daylamī (1/2/195). And this Hāshim, Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (4/2/104): "He narrated from ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), mursal. Muʿallá ibn Ruʾbah narrated from him." He did not mention any criticism or endorsement about him. As for Muʿallá ibn Ruʾbah, I did not find a biography for him, but perhaps he is mentioned in "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān." In general, the ḥadīth is ḥasan due to the combination of the two chains. And Allāh knows best.

"He used to supplicate with these words: O Allāh, I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt, the overpowering of the enemy, and the gloating of adversaries." It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/316, 317), al-Ḥākim (1/104), and Aḥmad (2/173) through the chain of Ḥayyī ibn ʿAbd Allāh from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ḥublī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr as marfūʿ, and al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." And I say: This Ḥayyī is truthful but errs, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so the isnād is ḥasan. Muslim (8/76) and al-Nasāʾī recorded the last part of it from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah from his action (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Al-Bukhārī (4/256) recorded it from his saying (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with the wording: "Seek refuge in Allāh from the hardship of trials, the reach of misery, the evil of judgment, and the gloating of adversaries." And also with al-Bukhārī (4/200) from the ḥadīth of Anas, his seeking refuge (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) from things he mentioned, among them: "the burden of debt and the overpowering of men."
