something he invented from himself—for what destroyed those before you was their differing with their prophets. He said: So each of us stood up, and he did not recite according to the recitation of his companion." In the narration of Ibn Ḥibbān: "He commanded ʿAlī and said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) commands you that each of you recite as you have been taught..." And its isnād is good. There is another supporting narration from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb from his father from his grandfather, similar and elevated, in which it states: "The Quran was not revealed for you to strike some parts of it with others, but rather to confirm each part with the other. So what you understand from it, act upon it, and what is unclear to you, believe in it." It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (4/192) with a good isnād. Al-Suyūṭī attributed it in "al-Ziyādah ʿalá al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" (32/19) to al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr," and did not do so in "al-Durr al-Manthūr" (2/6) as he attributed it there to Ibn Saʿd and Ibn al-Ḍurays in "Faḍāʾil" and Ibn Mardawayh from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb... similar.
شيء ابتدعه من قبل نفسه - فإنما أهلك من كان قبلكم اختلافهم على أنبيائهم. قال: فقام كل رجل منا وهو لا يقرأ على قراءة صاحبه ". وفي رواية ابن حبان: " فأمر عليا فقال: إن رسول الله ﷺ يأمركم أن يقرأ كل رجل منكم كما علم ... ". وإسناده حسن. وله شاهد آخر من حديث عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن جده نحوه مرفوعا، وفيه: " إن القرآن لم ينزل لتضربوا بعضه ببعض، ولكن يصدق بعضه بعضا، فما عرفتم منه فاعملوا به، وما تشابه عليكم فآمنوا به ". أخرجه ابن سعد في " الطبقات " (٤/ ١٩٢) بسند حسن. وعزاه السيوطي في " الزيادة على الجامع الصغير " (٣٢ / ١٩) للطبراني في " الكبير "، ولم يفعل ذلك في " الدر المنثور " (٢ / ٦) فقد عزاه فيه لابن سعد وابن الضريس في " فضائله " وابن مردويه عن عمرو بن شعيب... نحوه.

It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (no. 11908), al-Ḥākim (1/529), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (66/86/1) through the route of Hilāl ibn Khabbāb from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to his uncle al-ʿAbbās: and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī, and it has been narrated with a different wording." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Al-Ḍiyāʾ said afterward: "I said: Hilāl ibn Khabbāb was deemed trustworthy by Imām Aḥmad, Yaḥyá ibn Maʿīn, and others. Ibrāhīm ibn al-Junayd said: I asked Yaḥyá ibn Maʿīn about Hilāl ibn Khabbāb? And I said: Yaḥyá al-Qaṭṭān..
