from Abū Rabāḥ, and he said: "Its isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Rather, its isnād is ḥasan because this Ibn Ghaylān was weakened by some, but the majority considered him reliable. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, a jurist, accused of Qadar." It was also narrated by al-Ruyānī in "Musnad" (Q 247/1) from ʿUthmān ibn ʿAṭāʾ from his father from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar as marfūʿ. This isnād is weak; this ʿAṭāʾ is Ibn Abī Muslim al-Khurasānī, and he is truthful but a mudallis, and he narrated with ʿanʿanah. His son ʿUthmān is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." Thus, all these routes are weak except for the route of al-Ḥākim, which is the main one, and if it does not strengthen it, it does not weaken it. (al-sinīn) is the plural of year, meaning drought and famine. (yatakhaīyarū) means they seek good, meaning as long as they do not seek the good and happiness from what Allāh has revealed. There is a supporting ḥadīth from Buraydah ibn al-Ḥuṣayb as marfūʿ with the wording: "No people ever broke a covenant except that killing spread among them, and no immorality appeared among a people except that Allāh imposed death upon them, and no people withheld zakāh except that Allāh withheld rain from them."
