and it has a fourth supporting narration with the wording: "The best deeds are bringing joy to a believer, satisfying his hunger, clothing his nakedness, or fulfilling a need for him." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/95/1 from "al-Jamʿ bayn al-Muʿjamayn") from Kathīr al-Nawāʾ who said: Abū Muslim al-Anṣārī - who was one hundred and fifty years old - told me, "I heard ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb say: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked, 'Which deeds are best?' He said, 'Bringing joy...,' and he said, 'It is not narrated from ʿUmar except with this isnād.'" I said: It is weak due to the weakness of al-Nawāʾ, who is Kathīr ibn Ismāʿīl al-Tamīmī. And this Abū Muslim al-Anṣārī, the red one, I did not recognize him. The first part of it is narrated by al-Naḍr ibn Muḥriz from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from Jābir who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked...." It was recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (17/285/2). And this al-Naḍr is weak.

- "The best of faith is patience and generosity." Al-Daylamī (1/1/128) from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn al-Zubayr from Zayd al-ʿAmī from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah from Maʿqil ibn Yasār as a marfūʿ narration. I said: It is also narrated from al-Ḥasan as a mursal narration. I said: And this isnād is weak, as Zayd al-ʿAmī is weak in terms of his memory. And ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn al-Zubayr, I did not recognize him. And the mursal narration of al-Ḥasan, who is al-Baṣrī, was connected by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad in "Zawāʾid al-Zuhd" (p. 10)
