"The Fire complained to its Lord and said: 'Some parts of me consume others.' So He granted it two breaths: one in winter and one in summer. As for its breath in winter, it is the severe cold, and as for its breath in summer, it is the scorching heat." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3/346) and Ibn Mājah (2/586) through the route of al-Aʿmash from Abū Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and al-Tirmidhī, whose wording this is, said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." I say: Its chain of narration in Ibn Mājah is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and they have both recorded it, as well as Aḥmad (2/238 - 277 - 462 - 503) through various routes from Abū Hurayrah with similar wording.
"Indeed, the merchants will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment as wicked except those who fear [Allāh], are righteous, and speak the truth." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (2/53/2) from Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad ibn Saʿīd al-Jammāl who narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bakr al-Sahmī who narrated from Ḥātim ibn Abī Ṣaghīrah from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came to us at al-Baqīʿ and said: "O assembly of merchants!" until they raised their heads, then he mentioned it. I say: This is a good chain of narration, all its men are trustworthy according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs except for this Abū al-ʿAbbās, whom al-Khaṭīb (4/170) mentioned and said: "He was trustworthy and had good ḥadīth." Ibn al-Munādī said: "He was among the trustworthy." Then he narrated it through the route of Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUbaydah ibn Rafāʿah ibn Rāfiʿ al-Anṣārī then al-Zuraqī from his father from his grandfather Rafāʿah
