and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/92/2) and Ibn ʿAdī (27/2) from three weak chains from Dāwūd ibn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās from his father from his grandfather, elevated [to the Prophet]. Thus, its chain is good, and Dāwūd was corroborated by his brothers ʿĪsá and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad with the wording: "Hang the whip where the people of the house can see it, for it is a discipline for them." (See correction number 432/1).

- "Hang the whip where the people of the house can see it, for it is a discipline for them." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/92/2) through the route of Salām ibn Sulaymān, who informed us that ʿĪsá and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us from ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās from their father from Ibn ʿAbbās, elevated [to the Prophet]. And this Salām is Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Madāʾinī al-Dimashqī, about whom Abū Ḥātim said: he is not strong. But he was followed by al-Mahdī, the father of Hārūn al-Rashīd, from ʿAbd al-Ṣamad alone. It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb (12/203) and Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" as well (13/307/2), so the ḥadīth is good, if Allāh wills. Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Haythamī said (8/106): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ' and al-Bazzār, and the chain of al-Ṭabarānī in both is good." I say: And it is with al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (p. 249 - its additions) through the route of Mandal from Ibn Abī Laylá from Dāwūd ibn ʿAlī with the aforementioned chain from Ibn ʿAbbās with the wording: "Place the whip where the servant can see it." And Ibn Abī Laylá had poor memory, and Mandal, who is Ibn ʿAlī al-ʿAnazī, is weak. (See correction number 432/19).

It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (1/1/63) from Muḥammad ibn Ḥajjāj who said: Yūnus ibn Maysarah ibn Ḥalbas narrated to us from Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned it
