- "Take this one and do not beat him, for I have seen him praying, coming from Khaybar, and I have been forbidden from beating those who pray." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/250 and 258) through the chain of Ḥammād ibn Salamah, who informed us from Abū Ghālib, from Abū Umāmah, that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came from Khaybar with two young boys. ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said, "O Messenger of Allāh, let us have one to serve us." He replied, "Take whichever one you wish." ʿAlī said, "Choose for me." He said, "Take this one and do not beat him, for I have seen him praying..." And he gave Abū Dharr the other boy and said, "Treat him well." Then he said, "O Abū Dharr, what did you do with the boy I gave you?" He replied, "You instructed me to treat him well, so I set him free." I say: This chain is good, its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for Abū Ghālib, who is considered good in ḥadīth. Al-Suyūṭī attributed the ḥadīth in "al-Ziyādah ʿalá al-Jāmiʿ" (Q 24/2) to al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" from Abū Umāmah with a similar narration. He marked it, as is his habit, with (hab), but it was mistakenly copied in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (1/88/2) as (ḥab), meaning Ibn Ḥibbān.

- "Inform your companion that my Lord has killed his lord, Kisrá, on this night." It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd (1/258-260) from his teacher Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar al-Aslamī with his chains from a group of Companions, who said: "The narration of some of them entered into the narration of others. They said: 'The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent ʿAbdullāh ibn Ḥudhāfah al-Sahmī, one of the six, to Kisrá to invite him to Islam and wrote a letter with him. ʿAbdullāh said: I delivered the letter of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) to him, and it was read to him. Then he took it and tore it up. When this reached the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), he said: O Allāh, tear apart his kingdom.'" And Kisrá wrote to Bādhān, his governor in Yemen, to send two strong men from his side
