"truthful but makes mistakes, his memory changed when he settled in Baghdad." I said: Thus, the ḥadīth through this route reaches the rank of ṣaḥīḥ li-ghayrih. And Allāh knows best.

- "When you sleep, extinguish your lamps, for the devil guides something like this to that and burns you." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (5247), Ibn Ḥibbān (1997), and al-Ḥākim (4/284-285) through the route of ʿAmr ibn Ṭalḥah al-Qanād who narrated to us from Asbāṭ ibn Naṣr from Simāk ibn Ḥarb from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "A mouse came and started dragging the wick, and the servant girl went to chase it away. The Prophet of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Leave it. It came with it and dropped it in front of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on the mat he was sitting on, burning a spot the size of a dirham. Then he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) mentioned it." Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: It is according to the conditions of Muslim except that Asbāṭ has been weakened, and for this reason, Abū Zurʿah criticized Muslim for including the ḥadīth of Asbāṭ, and the ḥāfiẓ said: "truthful but makes many mistakes." Yes, the ḥadīth is ṣaḥīḥ, for it has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Surjīs with a similar meaning, found in "al-Mishkāt" (4303).

- "Your permission for me to lift the veil and listen to your secret until I forbid you." It was narrated by Muslim (7/6), Ibn Mājah (138), Aḥmad (1/1/38 and 394 and 404), Ibn Saʿd (9/153-154), and Abū ʿUbayd (8/1) from al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Taymī from Ibrāhīm ibn Suwayd from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. Aḥmad said: "Suwādī: my secret, he was given permission to hear his secret."
