al-Qurashī al-Madanī narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥasan, from his father, from his grandfather, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: "It was said, O Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), the people pass by and one of them gives salām, is that sufficient for them? He said: Yes. It was asked, and if one of the people returns the salām, is that sufficient for them? He said: Yes." However, the isnād is weak, as those below Zayd ibn Aslam are unknown to me. Mālik also narrated it from him in a mursal form as previously mentioned under number (1148). The ḥadīth has a good supporting narration from ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) in a marfūʿ form similar to it, which is recorded in "al-Irwāʾ" (770), thus it is authentic by it, and it was also narrated by al-Maḥāmlī in "al-Amālī" (5/62/2).
- "When the call to prayer is made, the gates of the heavens are opened and supplications are answered." It was narrated by al-Ṭayālisī in his "Musnad" (number 2106) who said: al-Rabīʿ narrated to us from Yazīd from Anas that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was also narrated by Abū Yaʿlá in his "Musnad" (1015-1016) through another route from al-Raqāshī. Yazīd al-Raqāshī is weak, but the rest of the narrators of Abū Yaʿlá are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs. Al-Haythamī criticized it due to al-Raqāshī in "al-Majmaʿ" (1/334), but he missed that it has another route better than this one with Abū Yaʿlá as well, where he said (1008): Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥajjāj al-Sājī narrated to us, Sahl ibn Ziyād informed us from al-Taymī from Anas in a marfūʿ form. He was followed by Ḥafṣ ibn ʿAmr al-Rabālī who said: Sahl ibn Ziyād narrated to us from him. It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (8/204) and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (127/2). It was also narrated by al-Thaqafī in "al-Thaqafiyyāt" (4/27/2). I say: This isnād is ḥasan, its narrators are trustworthy, and in Sahl ibn Ziyād there is slight weakness. Al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "They did not weaken him, and he has a biography in 'Tārīkh al-Islām'."
