"except with his permission, for that would distress him." The second: from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār from him, reported as elevated with the wording: "Two should not converse privately excluding one." It was recorded by Mālik (3/151) with this wording, and by Ibn Mājah (2/415) and Aḥmad (2/9, 60, 62, 73, 79) from various routes from him. The third: from Abū Ṣāliḥ - Dhakwān - from him similarly. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1170), Abū Dāwūd (2/562), Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (3/1351), and Aḥmad (2/18, 42, 141) with the addition: "He said: I asked Ibn ʿUmar: What if they are four? He said: Then there is no harm in it." Its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two shaykhs. The fourth: from Yaḥyá ibn Ḥabbān from him. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/32). The fifth: from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from him, reported as elevated with its meaning. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/114, 138). 2 - As for the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd, it is narrated by Abū Wāʾil Shaqīq ibn Salamah from him, reported as elevated with the wording: "If you are three, two should not converse privately excluding the third, for that would distress him." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (11/68) and in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1169), Muslim (7/13), Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī (4/27 - Tuhfah), al-Dārimī (2/282), Ibn Mājah, and Aḥmad (1/375, 425, 430, 431, 438, 440, 460, 464, 465) from various routes from him. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." In a narration by the two shaykhs with the wording: "Two should not converse privately excluding the other until you mingle with the people, because that would distress him."
" إلا بإذنه، فإن ذلك يحزنه ". الثانية: عن عبد الله بن دينار عنه مرفوعا بلفظ: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون واحد". أخرجه مالك (٣ / ١٥١) واللفظ له وابن ماجه (٢ / ٤١٥) وأحمد (٢ / ٩و٦٠ و ٦٢ و ٧٣ و ٧٩) من طرق عنه. الثالثة: عن أبي صالح - ذكوان - عنه مثله. أخرجه البخاري في " الأدب المفرد "(١١٧٠) وأبو داود (٢ / ٥٦٢) أبو يعلى في " مسنده " (٣ / ١٣٥١) وأحمد (٢ / ١٨ و ٤٢ و ١٤١) وزاد: " قال: فقلت لابن عمر: فإذا كانوا أربعة؟ قال:فلا بأس به ". وإسناده صحيح على شرط الشيخين. الرابعة: عن يحيى بن حبان عنه. أخرجه أحمد (٢ / ٣٢). الخامسة: عن سعيد المقبري عنه مرفوعا بمعناه. أخرجه أحمد (٢ / ١١٤ و ١٣٨). ٢ - وأما حديث ابن مسعود فيرويه أبو وائل شقيق ابن سلمة عنه مرفوعا بلفظ:" إذا كنتم ثلاثة فلا يتناجى اثنان دون الثالث، فإنه يحزنه ذلك ". أخرجه البخاري (١١ / ٦٨) وفي " الأدب المفرد " (١١٦٩) ومسلم (٧ / ١٣) وأبو داود والترمذي (٤ / ٢٧ - تحفة) والدارمي (٢ / ٢٨٢) وابن ماجه وأحمد (١ / ٣٧٥، ٤٢٥ و ٤٣٠ و ٤٣١ و ٤٣٨ و ٤٤٠ و ٤٦٠ و ٤٦٤ و ٤٦٥) من طرق عنه. وقال الترمذي: " حديث حسن صحيح ". وفي رواية للشيخين بلفظ: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون الآخر حتى تختلطوا بالناس، من أجل أن ذلك يحزنه ".
