and prayer and charity. Allāh does not take charge of a servant and then appoint someone else over him on the Day of Resurrection. No man loves a people except that he comes with them on the Day of Resurrection. The fourth, upon which if I swore, I would not fear sinning: Allāh does not cover a servant in this world except that He covers him in the Hereafter." It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (216/2): Hudbah ibn Khālid narrated to us, Hammām narrated from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah from Shaybah al-Khuḍrī that he witnessed ʿUrwah narrating to ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz from ʿĀʾishah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: and he mentioned it. ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz said: When you hear something like this from someone like ʿUrwah, memorize it. Isḥāq said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah ibn Masʿūd narrated to me from Ibn Masʿūd from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. I said: Its isnād to ʿĀʾishah is weak due to Shaybah al-Khuḍrī, for there is an unknown element in it, as al-Dhahabī said. However, its isnād to Ibn Masʿūd is authentic, as all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs. This is a valuable benefit with this isnād from Ibn Masʿūd, as it was recorded by Aḥmad (6/145), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (2/50), and al-Ḥākim (1/19 and 4/384) only from the first path from ʿĀʾishah. And you have known its weakness due to the unknown element, so the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (1/143): "Aḥmad narrated it with a good isnād"! It is not good, and similarly is the statement of al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (1/143): "Aḥmad narrated it, and its men are trustworthy"! It seems that there is another path from Ibn Masʿūd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), as al-Haythamī said after what has been mentioned: "Abū Yaʿlá also narrated it from Ibn Masʿūd similarly." I said: al-Mundhirī attributed it to al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and I saw it there (3/13/2) from two paths attributed to him, both of which are disconnected. And I found another path for it from ʿĀʾishah as well, recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (1/268) from al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Aṣbahānī who narrated to us Abū Masʿūd
