some will be taken by it up to their knees, and some up to their waists, and some will be completely engulfed by it." It was recorded by Muslim (2864), al-Tirmidhī (2423), and Aḥmad (6/3) from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir, who said: Sulaim ibn ʿĀmir narrated to me, al-Miqdād, a Companion of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. And it was added at the end: "I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) gesturing with his hand to his mouth, meaning completely engulfed." The context is from al-Tirmidhī, who said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." It has a corroborating narration from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir with a similar wording. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2538) and al-Ḥākim (4/571), who said: "Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ," and al-Dhahabī agreed, and it is as they said.

"Indeed, you will be granted victory, you will be supported, and you will achieve success. Whoever among you lives to see that should fear Allāh, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and maintain ties of kinship. Whoever intentionally lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire. The example of one who supports his people in falsehood is like a camel that falls into a well and is pulled out by its tail." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/401): ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿAmr and Muʾammal narrated to us, they said: Sufyān narrated to us from Simāk from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from ʿAbd Allāh, who said: "I reached the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) while he was in a red tent—ʿAbd al-Malik said: made of leather—with about forty men, and he said..." and he mentioned it. It was also recorded by Abū Dāwūd in his "Sunan" (2/624-625, al-Ḥalabī edition): Ibn Bashshār narrated to us, Abū ʿĀmir narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us with it, up to his saying "made of leather." And he said
