Ḥafṣ al-Abli narrated to us from Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh, from Abū Ḥuṣayn, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "If you become angry, remain silent." I said: This isnād is good. Al-Abli, as al-Ḥāfiẓ said, is "trustworthy." And those above him are from the narrators of al-Bukhārī. The rest of the ḥadīth has well-known corroborations, so the ḥadīth is authentic, if Allāh wills.

"When a man becomes angry and says: I seek refuge with Allāh, his anger will subside." It was recorded by al-Sahmī in "Tārīkh Jurjān" (p. 252) through the route of Ibn ʿAdī, and this is in "al-Kāmil" (297/1) from ʿAmmār ibn Rajāʾ who narrated to us from Aḥmad ibn Abī Ṭaybah, from his father, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form. And he said: "It is among the rare ḥadīths of Abū Ṭaybah." His name is ʿĪsá ibn Sulaymān al-Dārimī, and he was among the scholars and ascetics, as al-Sahmī said, who elaborated on his biography. Ibn ʿAdī said: "He was a righteous man, and I do not think he deliberately lied, but perhaps he was confused and made mistakes, and a group narrated from him." I said: He is one whose ḥadīth is used as supporting evidence due to his freedom from severe weakness, and ʿAmmār ibn Rajāʾ is a trustworthy ḥāfiẓ, as al-Sahmī also mentioned in his biography, and the rest of the narrators are from the men of "al-Tahdhīb." There is also a corroborating ḥadīth from Ibn Masʿūd in a similar marfūʿ form. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī and others, and I have discussed its isnād in "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (635) and mentioned other corroborations there, so the ḥadīth, with all of this, is authentic.
