"fear Allāh wherever you are, and treat people with good character, and if you commit a bad deed, follow it with a good deed to erase it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/153, 158, 177) with this wording in one narration, and by al-Dārimī (2/323) and al-Tirmidhī (1/359), who said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." Then it was also recorded by him and Aḥmad (5/228, 236) through the route of Maymūn as well, from Muʿādh ibn Jabal, elevated with similar wording, and he said: "Maḥmūd - meaning Ibn Ghaylān - said: The authentic ḥadīth is that of Abū Dharr." I said: It is disconnected in both cases because Maymūn did not hear from Muʿādh and Abū Dharr, as I clarified in "al-Rawḍ al-Naḍīr" (855). Refer to "Jāmiʿ al-ʿUlūm wa-al-Ḥikam" (111-132) by Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī, as he elaborated on the ḥadīth's chain and explanation comprehensively. In summary, the ḥadīth of the translation is authentic through its collective routes. And Allāh knows best.

- "When you conquer Egypt, treat the Copts well, for they have protection and kinship." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/553) through the route of Maʿmar from al-Zuhrī from Ibn Kaʿb ibn Mālik from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. He said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said, and Ibn Kaʿb's name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. He was followed by al-Awzāʿī from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb with it. It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (3/124). And he was followed by Isḥāq ibn Rāshid from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb with similar wording. And it added, "Indeed, the mother of Ismāʿīl is from them."
