I said: This isnād is good, as the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Fatḥ" (1/250), and its narrators are trustworthy, as al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (37/2). There is some discussion regarding Mūsá ibn Yaʿqūb, who is al-Zamʿī, concerning his memory. There is supporting evidence narrated by ʿAbd al-Muhaymin ibn ʿAbbās ibn Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Sāʿidī from his father from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Rinse your mouth after drinking milk, for it has fat." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah, and al-Būṣīrī said: "This isnād is weak; ʿAbd al-Muhaymin, al-Bukhārī said, is munkar al-ḥadīth." I said: And the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak." So his statement in the indicated place in "al-Fatḥ": "Ibn Mājah recorded it from the ḥadīth of Umm Salamah and Sahl ibn Saʿd similarly, and the isnād of each is good." It is not good due to the condition of ʿAbd al-Muhaymin! And he has another supporting evidence with Ibn Mājah from the path of al-Walīd ibn Muslim, who narrated to us from al-Awzāʿī from al-Zuhrī from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtbah from Ibn ʿAbbās that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it similar to the ḥadīth of Sahl. This isnād is authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs if it is free from the tadlīs of al-Walīd, but it is anomalous to me with this wording, for it was recorded by al-Bukhārī (1/250 and 10/59-60), Muslim (1/188-189), al-Nasāʾī (1/40), al-Tirmidhī (1/149), al-Bayhaqī (1/160), and Aḥmad (1/223, 227, 329, 337, 373) from various paths from al-Awzāʿī and others from al-Zuhrī with the wording: that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) drank milk, then rinsed his mouth and said: "It has fat." And al-Tirmidhī said: "A good, authentic ḥadīth."
