It was recorded by ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak in "al-Zuhd" (no. 797), narrated to us by Yaḥyá ibn Ayyūb from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith from Bakr ibn Sawādah with it. I said: And this isnād consists of trustworthy men, the men of Muslim, but I do not know if Bakr ibn Sawādah heard from Abū al-Dardāʾ or not. However, it is an acceptable supporting evidence for the mursal, and even though it is mawqūf, it has the ruling of being marfūʿ because it is not said from personal opinion, especially since it has been narrated from him as marfūʿ. Al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī mentioned it in "Kitāb al-Akyās wa-al-Mughtarīn" (p. 78 - al-Ẓāhiriyyah manuscript), and al-Suyūṭī also attributed it in "al-Jāmiʿ" to al-Ḥakīm from him. Meaning in "Nawādir al-Uṣūl". And al-Munāwī mentioned that its isnād is weak. And Allāh knows best.

- "Do not belittle any act of kindness, even if you pour from your bucket into the vessel of one seeking water, or if you speak to your brother with a cheerful face. And beware of letting the lower garment hang down, for it is from arrogance, and arrogance is not loved by Allāh. And if a person insults you with something they know about you, do not insult them with what you know about them, for its reward is for you and its burden is on the one who said it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/63), narrated to us by Yazīd, who informed us from Salām ibn Miskīn from ʿUqayl ibn Ṭalḥah, who narrated to us from Abū Jurayy al-Hujaymī who said: I came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh! We are a people from the desert, so teach us something by which Allāh will benefit us. He said: and he mentioned it. Then it was narrated by ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, who narrated to us from Salām with it, except that he said: "do not insult him with what you know about him, for its reward is for you and its burden is on him." And this isnād is authentic, its men are the men of the two Shaykhs except for ʿUqayl ibn Ṭalḥah, and he is trustworthy and his father was a Companion as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb"
