"When you see the slave woman giving birth to her master, and you see the barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings, and you see the barefoot, hungry, destitute people becoming the leaders of the people, then that is among the signs and portents of the Hour." It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/318-319) through the route of ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd who narrated to us from Shahr who narrated to me from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās as a marfūʿ ḥadīth, and he added at the end: "He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was sitting in a gathering, and Jibrīl (peace be upon him) came to him and sat in front of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), placing his palms on the knees of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh, tell me about Islam (I said: and he mentioned the ḥadīth in full, and in it) he said: O Messenger of Allāh, then tell me when the Hour will be? The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Glory be to Allāh, five are the matters of the unseen that none knows but Him: * (Indeed, Allāh has knowledge of the Hour...) * the verse, but if you wish, I will tell you about its signs before that. He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allāh, tell me. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "And he mentioned it. And he added at the end: "He said: O Messenger of Allāh, and who are the barefoot, hungry, destitute people? He said: The Arabs." I say: This isnād is acceptable as supporting evidence, Shahr, who is Ibn Ḥawshab, is weak in memory, but the ḥadīth is authentic and established in "al-Ṣaḥīḥayn" from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah similar to it, and from the ḥadīth of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb in Muslim and others without the addition.
"Sufficient for my companions is killing." It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/472) who narrated to us from Yazīd ibn Hārūn - in Baghdad - who informed us from Abū Mālik al-Ashjaʿī Saʿd ibn Ṭāriq from his father that he heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is a sound three-narrator chain according to the criteria of Muslim. And the ḥadīth, as al-Haythamī said (7/23): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī with the isnāds of al-Bazzār, and the men of Aḥmad are the men of the authentic collections."
