and al-Ṭayālisī (1186) and Aḥmad (4/225) from Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh from Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Abī Ḥathmah from his uncle Sulaymān ibn Abī Ḥathmah. I said: This isnād is weak because of Ḥajjāj, as he is a mudallis and has used ʿanʿanah. Al-Bayhaqī said: "Its isnād is varied, and it revolves around Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh, and what has been mentioned previously suffices." Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Būṣīrī critiqued this, saying in "al-Zawāʾid" (117/2): "I said: Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh is not the only one who narrated it, as Ibn Ḥibbān narrated it in 'his Ṣaḥīḥ' from Abū Yaʿlá from Abū Khaythamah from Abū Ḥāzim, from Sahl ibn Abī Ḥathmah from his uncle Sulaymān ibn Abī Ḥathmah who said: I saw Muḥammad ibn Salamah and mentioned it." I said: This is how I found it in my handwriting, quoting from "al-Zawāʾid," so perhaps something from its isnād was omitted by me or by the original copyist—which I do not find unlikely—as it is disconnected between Abū Khaythamah and Abū Ḥāzim. Abū Khaythamah, whose name is Zuhayr ibn Ḥarb, died in the year (274), and as for Abū Ḥāzim, he is either Salmān al-Ashjaʿī or Salamah ibn Dīnār al-Aʿraj, the latter being more likely, and both are tābiʿīs, with the second dying later, in the year (140). Then I saw the ḥadīth in "Zawāʾid Ibn Ḥibbān" (1225) as I had quoted from al-Būṣīrī, except that it mentioned "Abū Khāzim" with a dotted khāʾ—about "Sahl ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Ḥathmah" instead of "Suhayl ibn Abī Ḥathmah," and I did not find a biography for Sahl ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Ḥathmah; perhaps it is in "Thiqāt Ibn Ḥibbān," so it should be reviewed
