Yaḥyá ibn Maʿīn said: Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us from Sulaymān ibn Bilāl from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic; all its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim. And Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāliḥ is al-Waḥāẓī al-Ḥimṣī. (Note) It was mentioned by al-Suyūṭī from the narration of al-Tirmidhī from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "If one of you sees a good dream, let him interpret it and inform others of it, and if he sees a bad dream, let him not interpret it nor inform others of it." And likewise in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (1/56/2), and al-Munāwī said in "al-Fayḍ": "He symbolized its goodness following al-Tirmidhī, and it deserves the symbol of authenticity, and the apparent action of the author is that al-Tirmidhī was unique in recording it among the six, but it is not so, for it was narrated by Ibn Mājah from Abū Hurayrah with the mentioned wording." Thus he said, and I did not find the ḥadīth with al-Tirmidhī and Ibn Mājah with the mentioned wording after further research and employing all possible means, and his statement: "following al-Tirmidhī" is explicit or nearly explicit that he found it with him and that he deemed it good, so perhaps it occurred in some of his copies.

"Dreams are three: glad tidings from Allāh, self-talk, and intimidation from Shayṭān. So if one of you sees a dream that pleases him, let him narrate it if he wishes, and if he sees something he dislikes, let him not narrate it to anyone and let him get up and pray." It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/395) and Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (12/193/2) and from them by Ibn Mājah (2/449). They said: Hudhah ibn Khalīfah narrated to us from ʿAwf from Muḥammad from Abū Hurayrah in marfūʿ form. I said: And this isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs except for Hudhah ibn Khalīfah, and he is truthful as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb"
