and the statement of Ṣafwān at the end of the ḥadīth: "I met Abū al-Dardāʾ..." all of this clearly indicates that the ḥadīth is from the musnad of Abū al-Dardāʾ from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Exalted is He who does not forget. The second witness: from Anas, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording: "When a person prays for his brother in his absence, the angels say: 'Āmīn, and for you the same.'" It was recorded by al-Bazzār in "his Musnad" (Zawāʾid - 308) through the path of Muʾammal who narrated to us from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Ṣuhayb from him, and he said: "We do not know anyone who narrated it from Ḥammād except Muʾammal." I say: He is Ibn Ismāʿīl al-Baṣrī, truthful but poor in memory as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so the statement of al-Haythamī in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (10/152): "And its men are trustworthy." This is not good. The third: from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The supplication of a brother for his brother in his absence is not rejected." It was also recorded by al-Bazzār, but the isnād was omitted from "al-Zawāʾid" leaving only what I mentioned: from ʿImrān... and he said: "We do not know it to be narrated from ʿImrān except through this route, and Khālid al-Baṣrī." Thus is the original. And Allāh knows best. And perhaps the omission is from "Musnad al-Bazzār" itself, as evidenced by al-Haythamī only saying in "al-Majmaʿ": "It was narrated by al-Bazzār." For if the isnād were established in his copy, he would have commented on it, if Allāh wills, as is his usual habit (1).
