this is a good or potentially good chain of narration; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the six books except for Mubārak al-Khayyāṭ Abū ʿAmr. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taʿjīl": "Abū ʿĀmir al-ʿAqdī and Abū ʿĀṣim al-Nabīl narrated from him. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him and said: A Basran who resided in Mecca, and Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him among the trustworthy." Al-Haythamī affirmed its goodness when he said (4/296): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Bazzār, and their chain of narration is good." It has supporting evidence from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās, which will come with the wording: "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if the drop of semen..." etc., so the ḥadīth with this supporting evidence is good, if Allāh wills. The ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "al-Mukhtārah" and Ibn Ḥibbān in "Ṣaḥīḥ" as mentioned in "al-Jāmiʿ" and its explanation. It has other supporting narrations, including from Jābir who said: "A man from the Anṣār came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allāh, I have a slave girl from whom I withdraw? He said: What is decreed for her will come to her. He came to him after that and said: The slave girl has conceived. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: Whatever is decreed for a soul will surely happen." It was produced by Ibn Mājah (89) and Aḥmad (3/313) with the wording: "Whatever Allāh has decreed for a soul to be created will surely happen." I say: Its chain of narration is authentic according to their criteria. And from ʿUbādah that the first to practice withdrawal were a group from the Anṣār who came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: A group from the Anṣār practice withdrawal, so he was alarmed and said: "The created soul will surely happen, so I neither command nor forbid." It was produced by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (1/168/2) through the route of ʿĪsá ibn Sinān from Yaʿlá ibn Shaddād ibn Aws from him and said: "No one narrated it from Yaʿlá except ʿĪsá."
