Muslim did not narrate anything from him, and then he is disputed as you see in "al-Mīzān." And in "al-Taqrīb," it is said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." For someone like him, his ḥadīth would be considered ḥasan, but not ṣaḥīḥ.

- "When you perform ablution, rinse your nose, and when you use stones for cleaning, use an odd number." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (1/8), al-Nasāʾī (1/17 and 27), Ibn Mājah (406), Ibn Ḥibbān (149), Aḥmad (4/339 and 340), and al-Khaṭīb (1/286) from Manṣūr ibn al-Muʿtamir from Hilāl ibn Yasāf from Salamah ibn Qays al-Ashjaʿī who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic, all its men are trustworthy according to Muslim's criteria except for al-Ashjaʿī, who is a known Companion, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth."

- "When you perform ablution, interlace the fingers of your hands and feet." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (1/10), al-Ḥākim (1/182), and Aḥmad (1/287) from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī al-Zinād from Mūsá ibn ʿUqbah from Ṣāliḥ, the client of al-Tawʾamah, from Ibn ʿAbbās that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And al-Tirmidhī said: "A gharīb ḥasan ḥadīth" (see the correction number 291/14). And al-Ḥākim said: "This Ṣāliḥ, I think, is the client of al-Tawʾamah, and if so, he is not according to the criteria of this book, but I included it as supporting evidence." I say: He is definitely the client of al-Tawʾamah because it is explicitly stated by al-Tirmidhī and Aḥmad as you see, and he is criticized as al-Ḥākim indicated, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but confused at the end of his life, Ibn ʿAdī said: There is no harm in the narrations of the early ones from him like Ibn Abī Dhiʾb and Ibn Jurayj."
