"and the religion will be firmly grasped from the Hijaz like the firm grasp of the mountain goat from the top of the mountain." Then al-Bayhaqī narrated it through the route of Kathīr ibn Marwān al-Shāmī, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd al-Dimashqī—who was at the door—told us, saying: Abū al-Dardāʾ, Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī, Anas ibn Mālik, and Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us and said: and he mentioned it, except he said: "those who reform when people become corrupt, and they do not dispute in the religion of Allāh nor declare the people of the Qiblah disbelievers due to a sin." Then he narrated it through the route of Yaḥyá ibn al-Mutawakkil, who said: My mother told me that she heard Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar—Yaḥyá said, and I saw Sālim narrating—on the authority of his father, that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say, and he mentioned it up to his saying "for the strangers" and added: "Indeed, there is no estrangement for a believer, as long as he dies a believer." And he said: "Muḥammad ibn Zayd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar narrated it on the authority of his father ʿUmar without his saying 'so glad tidings for the strangers' to the end, and from that route Muslim extracted it." Then he traced it from Muḥammad ibn Zayd with his chain, and from the ḥadīth of Abū Ḥāzim on the authority of Abū Hurayrah up to his saying "so glad tidings for the strangers" and said: "Muslim narrated it." The ḥadīth has also been narrated with another addition in the wording: "Indeed, Islam began as something strange and will return to being strange as it began, so glad tidings for the strangers." It was said: "And who are the strangers?" He said: "Those who withdraw from the tribes." It was narrated by al-Dārimī (2/311-312), Ibn Mājah (2/478), Aḥmad and his son ʿAbd Allāh (1/398), al-Bayhaqī in "al-Zuhd al-Kabīr" (p. 24/2), and al-Baghawī in "Sharḥ al-Sunnah" (1/10/2) from Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth from al-Aʿmash from Abū Isḥāq from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ from ʿAbd Allāh as a marfūʿ ḥadīth, and al-Baghawī said: "This is a ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth."
" وليعقلن الدين من الحجاز معقل الأروية من رأس الجبل". ثم رواه البيهقي من طريق كثير بن مروان الشامي حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيدالدمشقي - الذي كان بالباب - قال: حدثني أبو الدرداء وأبو أمامة الباهليوأنس بن مالك وواثلة بن الأسقع قالوا: خرج علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليهوسلم فقال: فذكره إلا أنه قال: " الذين يصلحون إذا فسد الناس، ولا يماروا(!) في دين الله ولا يكفروا (!) أهل القبلة بذنب ". ثم رواه من طريق يحيىابن المتوكل قال: حدثتني أمي أنها سمعت سالم ابن عبد الله بن عمر - قال يحيىوقد رأيت سالما يحدث - عن أبيه أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقولفذكره إلى قوله " للغرباء " وزاد: " ألا لا غربة على مؤمن، ما مات مؤمنا " وقال: " ورواه محمد بن زيد بن عبد الله بن عمر عن أبيه عمر دون قوله " فطوبىللغرباء " إلى آخره، ومن ذلك الوجه أخرجه مسلم " ثم ساقه عن محمد بن زيدبسنده، ومن حديث أبي حازم عن أبي هريرة إلى قوله " فطوبى للغرباء " وقال:" رواه مسلم ". وقد روي الحديث بزيادة أخرى بلفظ: " إن الإسلام بدأ غريباوسيعود غريبا كما بدأ فطوبى للغرباء، قيل: ومن الغرباء؟ قال النزاع (١) منالقبائل ". رواه الدارمي (٢ / ٣١١ - ٣١٢) وابن ماجة (٢ / ٤٧٨) وأحمدوابنه عبد الله (١ / ٣٩٨) والبيهقي في " الزهد الكبير " (ق ٢٤ / ٢)والبغوي في " شرح السنة " (١ / ١٠ / ٢) عن حفص بن غياث عن الأعمش عن أبيإسحاق عن أبي الأحوص عن عبد الله مرفوعا وقال البغوي: " هذا حديث صحيح ".
