"Seek treatment for her through ruqyah, for she has been afflicted by the evil eye." Narrated by al-Bukhārī (10/165) with this wording, and Muslim (7/18) through the route of Muḥammad ibn al-Walīd al-Zubaydī, who informed us from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, from Zaynab bint Abī Salamah, from Umm Salamah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saw in her house a girl with a pale face and said: and mentioned it. Also narrated by al-Ḥākim (4/212).

"The evil eye is real." Narrated by al-Bukhārī (10/166), Muslim (7/13), Abū Dāwūd (2/153), and Aḥmad (2/318) from the ḥadīth of Hammām ibn Munabbih from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet]. It has another route narrated by Ibn Mājah (2/356) from Muḍārib ibn Ḥazn from him. Its isnād is good with what preceded it. In it, al-Bukhārī and Aḥmad include an addition (and he forbade tattooing). The ḥadīth has many supporting narrations; Ibn Mājah narrated it from the ḥadīth of ʿĀmir ibn Rabīʿah, and al-Ḥākim and others narrated it in a previous ḥadīth with the wording: (If any of you sees something from himself) and among its supporting narrations is what follows. "The evil eye sends a man to the grave and a camel to the pot." It is said in "al-Jāmiʿ": "Narrated by Ibn ʿAdī and Abū Nuʿaym in 'al-Ḥilyah' from Jābir, and Ibn ʿAdī from Abū Dharr." I say: It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (7/90) and Abū Bakr al-Shīrāzī in "Seven Sessions from al-Amālī" (8/2) and al-Khaṭīb in "His History" (9/244)
