"It was narrated by Aḥmad and Abū Yaʿlá, and its isnād is good as previously mentioned. The isnād of Aḥmad includes Jasr, who is weak." It was mentioned earlier (10/66): "Among the men of Abū Yaʿlá is a muḥtasib, Abū ʿĀʾidh, whom Ibn Ḥibbān considered reliable, but Ibn ʿAdī considered weak. The rest of the men are those of the authentic collections, except for al-Faḍl ibn al-Ṣabāḥ, who is trustworthy." The ḥadīth also came through another chain with the wording "three" instead of "seven" from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, and Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Juhanī. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, al-Ṭayālisī said (1845): ʿUmrī narrated to us from Nāfiʿ who said: "A man came to Ibn ʿUmar and said: O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, did you see the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with your own eyes? He said: Yes. He said: And did you speak to him with your own tongues? He said: Yes. He said: And did you pledge allegiance to him with your own hands? He said: Yes. He said: Blessed are you, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān! He said: Shall I not tell you something I heard from him? I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: Blessed is he who saw me and believed in me, and blessed is he who did not see me and believed in me three times." I say: This ʿUmrī is weak, but his ḥadīth is supported by what follows. 2 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd, it is narrated by Darāj from Abū al-Haytham from him in a marfūʿ form. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2302), Aḥmad (3/71), and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (4/91). 3 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Juhanī, it is narrated by Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq who said: Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb narrated to me from Marthad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Yaznī from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Juhanī who said: "While we were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), riders appeared. When he saw them, he said: They are from Kindah and Madhḥij. When they came to him, they were men from Madhḥij. One of them approached him to pledge allegiance. When he took his hand, he said: O Messenger of Allāh! What about the one who saw you, believed in you, and followed you, what does he get? He said: Blessed is he. Then he wiped his hand and left. Then the other approached until he took his hand to pledge allegiance. He said: O Messenger of Allāh! What about the one who believed in you, followed you, and did not see you? He said: Blessed is he, then blessed is he, then blessed is he. Then he wiped his hand and left."
