and it was also narrated by al-ʿUqaylī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (322) from the first route, and he said: "ʿUtbah ibn Abī ʿUtbah is not corroborated, and there is doubt concerning Mālik, and the ḥadīth is not corroborated except through a route similar to this." 6 - As for the ḥadīth of Muʿādh, it is narrated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kharrāsh from al-ʿAwām ibn Ḥawshab from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab from him. It was narrated by Ibn ʿAdī (220/2) and he said: "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kharrāsh is a denier of ḥadīth." I said: Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Weak, and Ibn ʿAmmār accused him of lying." I said: And Shahr ibn Ḥawshab is also weak. From this route, it was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī as in "Majmaʿ al-Haythamī" and he said: "Shahr did not meet Muʿādh." 7 - As for the ḥadīth of ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim, it is narrated by al-Haytham ibn ʿAdī who said: Mujālid narrated to us from al-Shaʿbī from ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim. It was narrated by al-Qaḍāʿī (65/2) and al-ʿUqaylī (451) and he said: "Al-Haytham ibn ʿAdī, Ibn Maʿīn said: He is not trustworthy, he used to lie. Al-Bukhārī said: They remained silent about him." Then al-ʿUqaylī said: "This ḥadīth is narrated from a different route with a better isnād than this." I said: And he was followed by Sawwār ibn Muṣʿab from Mujālid with it. It was narrated by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (11/237/2).
