and Abū Hurayrah, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās, Muʿādh ibn Jabal, ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim, Abū Rāshid ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd, and Anas ibn Mālik. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, it is narrated by Saʿīd ibn Muslimah from Ibn ʿAjlān from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar with it. It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/400), Ibn ʿAdī (178/1), al-Bayhaqī (8/168), and al-Qaḍāʿī (65/2). This isnād consists of trustworthy men except for Saʿīd ibn Muslimah, who is weak. However, Ibn ʿAdī said: "I hope he is among those whose ḥadīth is not abandoned, and his narrations are acceptable as they are close [to authentic]." Then Ibn ʿAdī narrated it (295/1) through the route of Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl from his father from Nāfiʿ with it, and said: "Most of Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl's ḥadīth are not followed by the trustworthy." 2 - As for the ḥadīth of Jarīr, it has several routes from him: the first is from Ḥuṣayn ibn ʿUmar al-Aḥmasī: Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid narrated to us from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim from him, who said: "When the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was sent, I came to him, and he said: (O Jarīr, for what purpose have you come?) I said: I have come to accept Islam at your hands, O Messenger of Allāh. He then gave you something that pleased you, then turned to his companions and mentioned it." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/109/1), Ibn ʿAdī (Q 102/2), al-Bayhaqī, al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (1/188), Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Bazzār in "Ḥadīth Ibn al-Sammāk" (1/178/2), and al-Qaḍāʿī in "Musnad al-Shihāb" (65/2). Ibn ʿAdī said: "No one narrates it from Ibn Abī Khālid except Ḥuṣayn ibn ʿUmar, and most of his ḥadīth are incomplete and unique to him." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Abandoned."
